Analysis of a Network Implementing ROIP Technology


Abstract:

Communications are a relevant aspect in emergency response institutions when coordinating activities before, during, and after an incident. Radio over IP (ROIP) technology allows to increase the coverage of different radio communications systems, regardless of their technology, taking advantage of the benefits provided by voice over IP systems, but with the use of two-way radios, with Push To Talk (PTT) transmissions, which is an attractive option for communication solutions with greater interoperability, flexibility, and rapid deployment, using an existing IP infrastructure, as well as the Internet, to allow a more scalable communication and reducing implementation costs. This research work is oriented to the development of a network design implementing ROIP technology, as well as the evaluation of the most important parameters to determine the quality of data transmission, allowing to propose a communication alternative between different geographical areas, to ensure coordination, effective reporting, and communication of events in the field.
