Evaluación de la remoción de DQO y tensoactivos usando un biopolímero de cáscara de plátano como floculante previo a un tratamiento anaerobio


Abstract:

This research project focuses on the implementation of solutions to the high degradation that water resources have suffered with the dumping of toxic substances generated by the industries and the need to have techniques that are economically affordable. Wastewater containing a large quantity of oils and detergents contains high concentrations of fats and surfactants, which are substances of low. biodegradability, they have also caused a great impact on the environment, so various methods are used to treat these waters, such as coagulation and flocculation, which consists of adding chemical additives in order to favor the sedimentation of colloidal matter and the sedimentation speed due to floc formation. The present investigation is based on obtaining a biopolymer from the banana peel and subsequently using it as a flocculant. This physicochemical treated water was treated anaerobically. This technique is of great interest in the search for new processes for treating waste produced as sludge, which due to the natural origin of the biopolymer should not have traces of metallic compounds. This work proposes a simple and practical technique as an alternative to conventional removal processes, I use a material that is accessible and inexpensive such as banana peel to see its efficiency in the removal of surfactants and COD. Natural biopolymers currently have become compounds of great interest because they do not generate harmful effects to the environment and human health, given their organic and biodegradable nature, in addition to obtaining them at a low cost (GALLARDO, 2017). For this reason, when using natural coagulants-flocculants obtained from residues that are generally waste, it is sought to reduce or replace the consumption of chemical flocculants that produce a negative effect on the environment and on human beings.
