Evaluación de las tecnologías de la información y comunicación y su aplicación en la docencia, para la disminución de la brecha digital en la Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo
Abstract:
The evaluation of Information Technologies and Communication (ICT) and its application in teaching were conducted, for reducing the digital divide at the National University of Chimborazo. After a preliminary study through the application of surveys detected that teachers make improper use of technology, doing traditional activities and basic that a little or no change the role of teachers. It detected a significant gap regarding the proper management of Blogs, Virtual Classrooms and file hosting service. A training plan was executed in handling ICT as an alternative solution, which result after application of a post survey was the reduction of the digital divide in terms of availability, frequency of use and proper use of Blogs in a 17%, 8% and 13% in virtual classrooms by 17%, 14% and 61%, and file hosting service by 5%,0% and 11% respectively. Using a control and treatment group, the hypothesis was verified using Chi-square test. It is concluded that with appropriate training plan was achieved in bridging the digital divide in teachers of the institution. It is recommended to replicate the training plan periodically in the order faculties and turn it into an institutional policy, contributing to the teaching – learning process.
