Evaluación de parámetros de QoS de VoIP en Redes MANET.

Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the factors that influence in the quality of service (QoS) of voice over IP (VoIP) in MANET networks, since this type of networks offers a totally decentralized architecture, which is a very feasible alternative for mobile purposes and perfect for scenarios where a physical network infrastructure cannot be deployed. On the other hand, there is no doubt about the growth of multimedia services such as VoIP, which has become something of the daily life of Internet users. The great advantages offered by VoIP technology, such as the low cost of calling anywhere, regardless of the geographic location and mobility thanks to the fact that users can take their same number anywhere, are just some of the advantages of this technology. But on the other hand, we have the dynamic nature of MANET networks which causes some important parameters to measure quality to be affected such as packet loss, delay and variation of the delay. In order to perform this, we define which parameters directly influence the quality perceived by the user, this is done through the design of evaluation experiments for VoIP applications in certain scenarios considering the specified parameters. With the obtained results it has been possible to verify the optimal parameters to mount a MANET network when working with VoIP, as well as protocols, simulation times and number of nodes, thus giving a manual of best practices for those who wish to implement a network of these characteristics.
