Evaluación de un producto masticable profiláctico, a base de ozono (10, 15 y 20 mg) en gingivitis tipo 1, en caninos en la ciudad de Latacunga.
Abstract:
Gingivitis is a periodontal disease that take place in canines due to poor or non-hygiene in oral cavities, producing bacterial colony-forming units and causing inflammation of the gums, fall of teeth, thus reducing life quality of this specie. In this research project an experiment is being created with the proposal of three chewable products made out of different concentrations of ozone to treat gingivitis type I. For the test application of these treatments, 20 canines from the city of Latacunga were selected. These were heterogeneous groups, different races and aged from 3 to 4 years of age. They were divided into four groups of five canines, of which three were supplied with chewable products with different concentrations of ozone, while the control group was supplied by the ozone-free chewing group. Group 1: Treatment 0: Ozone-free, Group 2: Treatment 1: with 10 mg of ozone, Group 3: Treatment 2: with 15 mg of ozone, Group 4: Treatment 3: with 20 mg of ozone. Each animal was taken a salivary sample with the use of a hyssop, and they had also received a dental scrape before and after providing its corresponding treatment. These samples were sent to a laboratory to determine the percentage of colony-forming units that each one of these canines have in their mouths to determine the effectiveness of each treatments applied. Some research methods where managed during the testing such as direct observation to the tests, documentary, practical and experimental. To have an accurate analysis of the results, some technological programs were used; infostat and excel opened the path to have a great comparison of the different treatments applied to the canines and to determine which is the most recommended treatment for the disease known as gingivitis type I.
