Evaluación del PH salival después del blanqueamiento dental en consultorio

Abstract:

The literature shows that saliva is able to reverse the enamel alterations after bleaching. Few studies evaluate changes that might occur in the salivary pH during bleaching treatment. To determine the salivary pH after using an in-office bleaching product. This cross-sectional clinical study evaluated 15 volunteers who used an in-office bleaching agent 35 percent hydrogen peroxide gel, neutral pH (35 percent Whiteness Hp) for 45 minutes in 2 sessions with one week interval. The salivary pH was measured with a pH meter in each session: before placing the bleach agent, immediately after removing the product, after 15 min, at 30 and 45 min after removing the product. Tooth sensitivity was evaluated in each session with two pain scales: Five points and VAS. Data were analyzed with ANOVA and chi-square (p lower q 0.05). The initial pH was (7.09 more or less 0.11) in the first session and (6.96 more or less 0.08) in the second, immediately after the removal of the product an increase was observe (7.25 more or less 0.14) in the first session and (7.15 more or less 0.08) in the second session, until the 15 minutes: in the first session 7.32 more or less 0.12 and second 7.27 more or less 0.07. The bleaching technique used in this study proved to be effective in decreasing the saturation of the incisors and canine teeth on 7 and 10 tones, according to the Vita Classical scale and according to the Vita Bleach scale, in most patients the central incisors and canines bleached 4 tones. The salivary pH increased after bleaching treatment and takes 45 minutes to return to its initial values.
