Analysis of the lack of interest in english language learning a case study the 5th a grade students of the ciudad de Cuenca elementary school

Abstract:

English is the future of tomorrow. However, most of public elementary schools suffer the lack of interest in learning English of their students. This is the main problem that Ciudad de Cuenca Elementary School experiences and through this research we have investigated the real causes of this problem. Our work was an analysis based on Constructivism theory, Vygotsky`s, and Maslow's theory which helped us to understand why the students do not have interest in learning a second language, in this case English. In our investigation we found that the main causes or factors for this problem were the lack of parents` support, the familiar disintegration due to divorce or migration being the most important. This work had as objective to help students to realize that in spite of many difficulties that they can find out in their lives, they must continue with their studies to develop themselves to get their goals in order to improve their future. Finally, in our research we gave some recommendations to the parents because they are the principal cause for this problem in order to diminish this difficulty in the Ciudad de Cuenca Elementary School
