Evaluación económica de la producción cacaotera de los productores de la cooperativa 27 de enero


Abstract:

In the Cooperative “27 de Enero”, belonging to Canton of Santa Rosa, it was done the Economic Evaluation of the Cocoa Production to de-terminate the real costs for the production of the cultivation and the corresponding profitability. The objectives presented were: 1) Analyze the production costs of the cocoa cultivation in the Cooperative “27 de Enero”, 2) Estimate the profitability of the cocoa cultivation for the producers of the Cooperative “27 de Enero”. The study was based on the information provided by: members that works in the developing of the cocoa cultivation, personal interviews and statistical analysis that were used as base to execute the economic evaluation. The economic evaluation included: the establishment of the financial indicators, the period for recovering the capital, relation cost - benefit, cash flow, flow of funds, also it was calculated the Net Present Value (VAN), the Internal Rate of Return (TIR), the Break-even point and with all this we obtained the elaboration for the SWOT (FODA) Analysis. After the study was done we concluded that: a) The high cost of pro-duction and the low performances of commercialization do not allow the producers to be able to generate major utilities, because the cocoa producers don’t work together. b) The profitability the cocoa’s cultiva-tion for the producers of de “Cooperative 27 de Enero” is not so low, even though theirs production is not given the whole year. c) The op-erating expenses are relatively high, due a Project Manager, Account-ant and Secretary are proposed for better control of the cocoa’s pro-duction. d) The current individual contribution by the members in the inversions stopped these projects from consolidating and providing the desired benefits, which is why it has been suggested the prorated con-tribution.
