Analysis of the newspaper covers of El Comercio: A malleable ‘architecture’

Abstract:

After an extensive theoretical study of the matter and a consequent intellectual debate, analyzed the cover of one of the Ecuadorian newspapers of reference, El Comercio, during the second semester of 2017 (with a total of 184 editions) with the objective of verifying the discursive interests that there are “at first sight” between its headlines, photographs, publicity and sections, this is, “the architectural-narrative logic in the construction of the journalistic face”. For it, a (qualitative-quantitative) mixed method was applied from a descriptive approach, using direct observation as a technique. And, between different results, it was proved that the covers do not respond to a homogenization in its content, nor in the application of the same one: each media micro-ecosystem responds to a particular and diverse necessity of the contemporary reader society that also - it is necessary not to forget-search in the fragmented informative universe of the print media.
