Analysis of the operation of a lead acid battery in a stand-alone hybrid system

Abstract:

An energy system is based on the ability to generate enough energy to meet demand at reasonable prices under appropriate environmental conditions and with high service reliability. Therefore, the storage of electrical energy has been a challenge in the implementation of energy systems, since different factors affect the generation of electrical energy. The batteries allow to store excess energy from renewable generation sources and then deliver it in certain periods in which it is necessary to improve the service, for example: voltage level, energy cost, reliability, loss levels, satisfy the load etc. What is proposed in the current study is to analyze the operation in an autonomous system, the state of charge and discharge (SoC), are critical factors to understand the state of a battery in use. The results show that the cost of replacement, operation and maintenance of the battery bank are the highest in the system, the bank's autonomy is 27.2 hours, the cost of storage wear is 0.419 $/kWh.
