Analysis of the performance of wireless sensor networks with mobile nodes under the AODV protocol

Abstract:

Due to recent technological advances, the manufacture of tiny and low-cost sensors has become technically and economically feasible. The censor electronics measure the environmental conditions related to the environment surrounding the sensor and transforms them into an electrical signal. The processing of such a signal reveals some properties on localized objects and/or events that occur in the vicinity of the sensor. Wireless sensor networks (WSN) contain hundreds or thousands of these network-connected sensor nodes that can communicate with each other or directly to an external base station. Currently there are countless areas where WSNs find application, with telemedicine, industrial process control and precision agriculture being some of the most relevant. In this work the fundamental theoretical aspects of this technology are studied, paying special attention to routing protocols. In addition, modeling and simulation of two network scenarios is performed using Y comparing two softwares, in a network simulator (NS-3) and Omnet++ together with the Castalia module to analyze their respective performances with and without mobility in the nodes, taking into account it counts the energy efficiency, the error rate of reception of the packets and the network load due to the AODV protocol.
