Analysis of the road capacity of Rodolfo Baquerizo Nazur Ave. and its intersection with Benjamín Carrión Ave. in the city of Guayaquil using Synchro 8.0

Abstract:

In this research work, the evaluation of the capacity and level of service offered by Rodolfo Baquerizo Nazur Ave. in intersection with Benjamin Carrion Ave., located in the north of the city of Guayaquil, Guayas province, Republic of Ecuador. Collecting roads that are extremely popular for connecting traffic with some of the main road arteries in the north and center of the city. Taking into account basic concepts of traffic engineering and following the methodology described in Chapter 19 of the interrupted flow section that belongs to the Highway Capacity Manual version 2016, the analysis was developed, which arises from the aggravating problem that is currently undergoing the city in several points of vehicular conflict. In addition, a second evaluation is carried out through the use of Synchro 8.0 software, which aims to assess the level of service. In order to carry out a comparative analysis between the two processes, it was found that modeling through software tends to be more conservative when applying the corresponding adjustment factors at each stage of the analysis.
