Analysis of the service level in Pedro J. Menéndez Gilbert Avenue as a new bridge over the Daule river is operative


Abstract:

In this research work is carried out the analysis of the service levels of the Avenue Pedro J. Menéndez Gilbert in the city of Guayaquil, Guayas province, Republic of Ecuador, before and after putting into operation the new bridge over the river Daule that It joins cantons Guayaquil with Samborondón, to assess the influence that will have the same on the levels of service of this avenue. Based on traffic engineering concepts, the methodology for conducting operational analysis on urban roads described in the HCM 2016, Highway capacity Manual Edition 2016 is applied. It includes the analysis of the peak hour factor and the average travel speed, parameters required to obtain the level of service. Motor vehicles are the most common means of mobilization of people, cargo and/or goods to urban centers, the growth of the automotive park in the city of Guayaquil has provoked delays in peak hours and increase in travel times which increases The conflict in vehicular traffic. Based on the observation of the problem are analyzed and compared factors that affect the vehicular mobility of the avenue under study analyzing the two directions of circulation, in the slots of maximum demand, before and after being in operation the bridge.
