Analysis of the theoretical parameters of the RF signals with the use of SDR (HackRF one)

Abstract:

The Maxwell equations are the basis for explaining all electromagnetic phenomena of a macroscopic nature. With the use of programmable analyzers, it is possible to have a virtual representation of the signal spectrum and these results concatenate them with Maxwell’s theoretical postulates for a better understanding of the electromagnetic behavior of radiofrequency waves. This research consists in obtaining the spectrum of two radio signals in different frequencies and bands by means of the software (SDR) HackRF One and from the measurements observed in a spectrum analyser software, to obtain all the theoretical parameters that define the electromagnetic properties of the signal for teaching and learning purposes for students and radio amateurs. The article describes the technical characteristics of the SDR used, the spectrum analyzer, the CubicSDR v0.2.5 software and the mathematical analysis of the parameters of two types of signals: one within the VHF bands of an FM emission in the city of Quito and another in the UHF band of a channel in the 2.4GHz band for a wireless network.
