Abstract:

Objectives: Measure the change in knowledge, attitudes and practices on ITS/HIV/SIDA among students of the University of Cuenca, Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Science Education in Schools of Mathematics and Physics and History and Geography, before and after of an educational intervention. Materials and methods: With a quasi-experimental, before and after method, based on social-cognitive theory of Albert Bandura, included 107 students, which assessed the knowledge, attitudes and practices before and after the educational intervention. Results: The average age of first intercourse was 16.8 ± 2.1 years compared to the number of people they had sex in the last 3 months was 2.14 ± 2.16 in the pre-intervention in the post-intervention was 1.49 ± 0.9, which gave us a mean difference not statistically significant (> 0.05). According to the Self-Efficacy Scale for AIDS prevention in all 27 questions the level in the intervention group improved significantly. Conclusion: We conclude that the educational intervention increased the knowledge, attitudes and self-efficacy of students with ITS/HIV/AIDS, but not for practices that are more difficult to change and require repeated assessments over time. KEY WORDS: ITS/HIV/AIDS, YOUNG, UNIVERSITY, CAPS, SELF-EFFICACY, PREVENTION.
