Evaluation Of Different Methods Of Scarification In Tamarind Seeds (Tamarindus Indica L.) En La Libertad, Ecuador
Abstract:
This work focuses on the types of scarification that can be used to accelerate the development process of the tamarind crop (Tamarindus indica L.), increasing crop production. Fruit trees along with other species that have seeds with hard testa are a challenge for the producer, because they take longer to germinate than the rest of the species, however by determining an effective scarification method this process will be more efficient in the production of tamarind. The methods used in this trial are very common in other species, such as physical scarification in water, chemical scarification with a certain cleaning product and biological scarification with beneficial organisms; these methods were adapted to this crop with very good results obtaining more than 80% germination and 99% germination capacity, without using certified seeds, also one of the most important things is that each treatment is easily accessible to the producer, that is why it is concluded that using scarification decreases the development time of this fruit tree.
