Evaluation of Capacity Curves in Generators, Transformers, and Transmission Lines for the Analysis of Permanent Stability in Electric Power Systems
Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to present an application for the analysis of electrical power systems (EPS), by comparing their capacity curves. Generators, transformers, and transmission lines have their operating limits based on geometric locations that are defined according to the mathematical models that determine their mode of operation in each case. The advantage of using the proposed tool is that it has a direct visual information that indicates whether the equipment is working normally or is overloaded. The application was made for the analysis of operation data from any EPS with the help of Matlab and DIgSILENT Powefactory software. Because EPSs are dynamic systems in which multiple operations are performed such as: connection and disconnection of loads, integration of generators in case of increased demand, disconnection of lines, transformers, or generators when some type of disturbance appears, all these operations presented by the EPS have to be studied in a timely manner by an analysis of permanent stability or safety of operation of the system for its correct operation. The proposed tool, for its evaluation, was carried out in the IEEE 39-bus system, carrying out an analysis in a normal state and in an overload of the elements of the system state, by means of the variation of the input or configuration parameters of EPS.
