Evaluation of qos solutions for local area networks

Abstract:

This article shows the evaluation of different QoS mechanisms for a local area network. The simulation was carried out on a red object, the network of the Faculty of Computer Science of the UTM. The implementation of QoS is the modification using the Opnet simulator and the comparison with real values from measurements. The tools used for the development of this research were Iperf and Opnet for monitoring and simulation respectively. For network performance analysis, analyze the quality of service parameters: througtput, latency, packet loss and availability. It was obtained as a result of the measurements and simulation that, implementing QoS configurations such as PQ, CQ, WFQ, RED, WRED, RSVP decrease latency and packet loss, improve bandwidth usage, and ensure the availability of Each of the services.
