Evaluation of the survival of ecuatorian communication companies through efficiency


Abstract:

The impact of COVID-19 is a factor that has an extraordinary influence on all companies. Ecuadorian social communication companies do not escape from this reality. This work seeks to determine the technical efficiency and survival of companies in the Ecuadorian media sector, for the years 2015 to 2109, and if the state of survivals affects technical efficiency. Envelope data analysis (DEA) is used in this work to measure efficiency and Tobit regression. A balanced panel of 110 companies from the media sector has been used. The results show that companies in the TV Production and Promotion and Advertising sectors have been more efficient in the years of studies. On the other hand, the level of survival of companies is significant to explain the technical efficiency of companies in the communication sector.
