284 Non‐cardiovascular mortality in patients assisted in a multidisciplinary Heart Failure Unit
Abstract:
Methods: 32 patients, with a previous hospitalization for heart failure, implanted with a InSync Sentry® ICD were enrolled. They underwent monthly (1) clinical examination, using the 0-to-10 Heart Failure Score (HFS),(2) recording of echo-Doppler transmitral flow with measurement of E wave deceleration time (Dte),(3) determination of plasma NT proBNP,(4) evaluation of TI. Statistical analysis was performed using a mixed model analysis of variance. Results: 28 (87.5%) patients were male, mean age 62 years, mean ejection fraction 28±5%, 35% had moderate to severe mitral regurgitation, 12% atrial fibrillation. During the 6-month follow-up, 40 events of TI reduction under the threshold were recorded, whereas only in 13 clinical examinations a HFS> 1 was achieved. At the univariate analysis all indicators were significantly pairwise correlated (Table 1), though HFS had the lower statistic test value. At the …
