Evolution of the Archean continental crust.

Abstract:

Summarises and discusses some of the major problems inherent in current evolutionary models under the headings: thermal evolution and crustal growth; evolution of Archaean greenstone belts; origin of Archaean bimodal gneisses and granitoid suites; origin of Archaean high-grade gneisses. Concludes that the dogma 'comparable rocks have comparable origins' does not necessarily apply to the early stages of the evolution of the crust of the Earth.-after Author
