Experimental Investigation of A Heat Pipe Solar Collector Used AS An Ecological Alternative To Water Heating
Abstract:
In this paper heat pipes have been constructed and tested using ethanol and water solutions at different concentrations as a working fluid. Tests were carried out to investigate the effects of ethanol concentration, as well as the evacuation of the pipe and the use of a wick within the pipe to ensure continuous system performance. It was concluded that the evacuation of a heat pipe or the use of a wick does not add much effect to improving the performance of a heat pipe. A comparison of the experimental results with those obtained from a previously developed model reveals a good agreement between the experiments and the model pbkp_redictions.
