Experimental set up to measure radiation impedance of pipes carrying low mean flow
Abstract:
In order to calculate the acoustic impedance along a pipe that has a moving medium, the impedance at the output has to be known. This problem is commonly found in noise radiated to the atmosphere from the exhaust of air conditioning systems and the exhaust system of an engine. Information on acoustic impedance allows one to find the complex reflection coefficient. The purpose of this article is to present an experimental set up designed to measure the acoustic radiation impedance of pipes, for different boundary conditions and with or without an irrotational isentropic mean flow.
