Exploratory spatial analysis in GIS: generating geographical hypotheses from spatial data
Abstract:
Presents a method of exploratory spatial analysis for geographic information systems that can be used to generate geographical hypotheses. The geographical hypotheses are developed using a Bayesian probability approach that addresses issues of integrating data from different basic spatial units and error analysis in GIS. It also provides a method for increasing the resolution of coarse (aggregated) spatial data. The method is illustrated using bioclimatic mapping for wildlife in Scotland. -Author
