Extraction, chemistry, biological activity, quality control and economic potential of essential oils
Abstract:
This review shows comprehensively the most relevant aspects of one of the secondary metabolites in the field of natural products: essential oils. This study includes the most widespread of extracting processes, their physical, chemical and biological characteristics, as well as an analysis of their commercial potential. The present study seeks to be a general reference material for those who want to know more details concerning this subject. In particular, it takes as a reference the research conducted at the Universidad Politecnica Salesiana of Ecuador and the Universities of Ferrera and Pavia.
