Abstract:

This research work was mainly aimed to characterize the self as a psychological risk factor and protection against drug that manifested in adolescents 13 to 15 years of college Francisco Huerta Rendon city of Guayaquil in the school year 2013 , to achieve compliance with this objective was identified and described the level of self-esteem and the development of self-concept of adolescents , it was of great social relevance because in our country there was an investigation of this type despite that the problem of drug use in the colleges is constantly growing , has not been given importance to this event , it is for this reason that the need to carry out far from aspiring to create a theoretical model that fully explain consumption drugs aimed at characterizing psychological risk and protective factors that affect and act on this issue , which causes great harm not only to adolescents as such but the whole context. The methodology used is mixed, with a narrative design. Sampling procedures were not probabilistic intentional nature. The sample consisted of twenty teens, ten men and ten women. The instruments used were: the Coopersmith self-esteem inventory, self AF5 scale, composition "How am, my main faults and my main virtues" and an interview related to self-concept.
