Angle, voltage, and frequency stability
Abstract:
Understanding stability issues in the power grid is rather important, since one of themain objectives of system operators, regardless of the basic structure of the electricity markets in which power systems are operated, is to guarantee that the system is securely operated, that is, the system remains stable even in the case of certain unexpected events or contingencies such as a major line or generator trip. Furthermore, in the context of competitive electricity markets, system security has a direct and significant effect on electricity prices. Therefore, this chapter concentrates on presenting and explaining the main concepts and tools associated with power system stability and security analysis, within the framework of competitive electricity markets.
