Factores asociados a desórdenes alimenticios en estudiantes de la Unidad Educativa Santa María de la Esperanza. Chordeleg 2017
Abstract:
Background: technology, dietary models and excessive concern for body image, have created sedentary and vain environments that lead adolescents to develop poor dietary practices, without knowing that they lead to eating disorders that alter their quality of life, so their prevalence varies from 2.7% to 8.3% in Ecuador. (1) Objective: To identify the factors associated with eating disorders in students of the Educational Unit "Santa María de la Esperanza" of Chordeleg canton. 2017 Methodology: It is a descriptive cross-sectional study, in a universe of 160 students from eighth to third year of high school; to whom surveys were applied, taking questions from validated instruments: Graffar indicator; Body Shape Questionnaire; Rosenberg scale; APGAR family, Scoff test; EAT 26. The information will be processed, analyzed in the statistical package SPSS 22, and presented in double entry tables. Results: 53.8% of students are men; the majority age range is 15 to 20 years (59.4%); the level of study that has more students is the second one of baccalaureate (26.9%); 57.5% of students reside in the urban area; the most frequent socio-economic level is the working class with 50.6%; 40% of them do not show dissatisfaction with their body image, while 28.1% have a mild body image dissatisfaction; 60.6% report presenting high self-esteem; 51.3% who live in environments with highly functional families do not present a risk of acquiring any eating disorder; 64.4% of students are not likely to suffer from eating disorders; 81.2% are not at risk of developing eating disorders. Conclusions: The majority of students with 64.4% and 81.2% do not present or possess risk of developing eating disorders
