Factores que alteran la funcionalidad familiar en la atención a personas con discapacidad, en la parroquia Sayausí. Cuenca 2016


Abstract:

Background: Specific attention to people with disabilities in Ecuador. It began over half a century ago, on behalf of the parents of people with disabilities. their goal: the search for new alternatives in treatment and care. This search led to the participation of public and private institutions in order to support this vulnerable group. General Objective: Identify the factors that disrupt family’s functios in the care of people with disabilities in Sayausí Parish, 2016. Material and Methods: This is a qualitative study, in which life stories were used based on the information and experiences given by members of the families. These stories were given in profound detail. This was done at 5 families of the 46 who have disabilities and were attended at the Sub Health Center of Sayausí. The results are presented by taxonomies with their qualitative analysis. Results: At the announcement of disabled people the majority of the families agreed that it was an indeed a very sad event that took place. This took them a very long time to adapt to the situation. A constant in their stories is the uncertainty in which they live in fear of having this recurrence of the disease and economic costs that this has upon the families. As if that were not enough, the discrimination against familiares, neighbors and society compounds the psychological suffering of those who care for the sick. Two of the families that have been interviewed experienced the discrimination as a very painful episode. The presence of stress on caregivers stands on the emotional impact the family recieve which show changes. In the socio-economic impact, families do not count on resources and eventually have to cut down on other expenses. Fortunately 23 families count on the aid programs given by the Ministry of Public Health. The people who are responsible for the daily care are usually women who are close to the disabled person. Conclusion. Families have undergone a series of emotional changes due to the news given. This problem is particularly obvious in the caregiver's, Support is given from their families which helps them and is known to be effective. These families count of their low economic incomes.
