Factors associated with knowledge of prenatal control in care units of Sucúa
Abstract:
In Ecuador, the Comprehensive Health, Family, Community and Intercultural Care Model (MAIS-FCI) is applied where promotion and prevention actions are carried out in pregnancy, with an active participation in education on prenatal control issues, to women of different sociocultural condition, using the different phases and tools to identify factors associated with inadequate control; helping to avoid and reduce the morbidity and mortality of mother and child. Objective: To establish the factors associated with knowledge about prenatal control in users who attend Sucúa’s health centers. Methodology: Quantitative study, correlational scope. The technique used was a survey, this instrument (modified) is based on the measurement of Azcarate, E. et al, carried out in Mexico, the content of the instrument is in accordance with the “Clinical Practice Guide for Prenatal Control” and the Technical Standard “Prenatal Education” contains 15 questions on prenatal control with answers of three alternatives, it was validated by experts on the subject. Sample: Made up of 237 pregnant women who attend health centers in Sucúa. Results: It was possible to verify that the level of knowledge about prenatal control in pregnant women from Sucúa is high with 51.5% and low with 48.5%. Conclusions: The real factors associated with knowledge about prenatal control were: area of residence (Exp: 1,958) and travel time to the operating unit (Exp: 5,273).
