Factors that determine the institutional image of postgraduate programs. A case study in an Ecuadorian university

Abstract:

The present study identifies the factors that determine the institutional image of postgraduates in an Ecuadorian university. For data collection, a survey of 28 items was designed according to the IMAGEing Model. The survey was applied to 103 students of the different postgraduates of UNEMI Ecuador through a Casual Sampling. After demonstrating the adequacy of the data, KMO index = 0.874 and Determinant of the correlations matrix = 4.51x10-7, the factors that characterize the image of the postgraduate course were identified according to the perception of the students of UNEMI, namely: (1) Academic Quality; (2) Social Aspects; (3) Tangible elements and (4) Accessibility. These four factors explain more than 68% of the total variance. In addition, the reliability analysis performed (Cronbach's alpha〉 0.812 for all dimensions) shows the internal consistency of the scale used and the statistical tests performed (significant at 5%) allowed to determine the validity of content, concept and criterion of The IMAGEing scale used in this study.
