Fair trade focus of social joint and engine for the sustainable local development: Experiences in Quito-Ecuador with the american city of fair trade
Abstract:
Ecuador, like many other countries in Latin America, had to build its own local development mechanisms, based on its experiences, geographical conditions and historical context. Unlike the classic development models that seek to promote a development based primarily on foreign aid, the model that allowed the construction of fair trade dynamics essentially implied the recognition of the existence of local knowledge, productive traditions and societal organization. The level reached and officially registered by the Ecuadorian Fairtrade activities oriented abroad motivates its evaluation as to whether associativity constitutes a determining cause for these achievements measured in monetary form. The economic activities start from the production of goods and services and they are commercialized and conclude with their consumption. The Organic Law of Food Sovereignty (LORSA), the Organic Law of Popular and Solidarity Economy and of the Asamblea Nacional.
