Anthropological and social nursing representations in the covid-19 context


Abstract:

Introduction: Studying the human being in an integral way implies analyzing social behaviors in the face of some phenomenon that has occurred, including the human behavior of specific sectors of society such as profession nursing, studies that are useful to understand causes/effects, being used in further decision making. Objective: To interpret the anthropological and social representations of the nursing staff in their experiences in the COVID-19 context. Methods: Qualitative research with an interpretive-hermeneutical approach, applying the phenomenological method by interviewing key informants of the research (10 nursing professionals, both genders), selected under a non-probabilistic intencional sampling, and complying with ethical considerations and informed consent. Results: Three major anthropological representations of nursing are established in the COVID-19 context (Reflection on caring for oneself and others, spiritual care in uncertainty situations, and Nursing social responsibility). Conclusions: The representations of the nursing professional include reflections on caring for others and for oneself based on an ethical and responsible act, spiritual help as a complement to care and emotional balance, and the importance linked to social responsibility in nursing. reflected by the public recognition of the work carried out in the health crisis.
