Fat mass influence in vertical jumping in secondary basketballs
Abstract:
Introduction: The jump is one of the activities that children and adolescents frequently do in play and in sports. Likewise, it is a way of measuring the force and therefore frequently used by researchers and teachers of physical education for that purpose. The jump can be affected by variables such as lifestyle and nutrition. Objective: This study analyzes the relationship between vertical jump performance and fat mass in high school basketball players. Methods: Both men and women have been included in this study. Various instruments have been used, such as the bio-impedance meter, the plicometer, the anthropometric tape, the scale, the heightometer, the jump platform, as well as the IPAQ questionnaire and the record sheets for taking personal data and others for sporting purposes. Results: The higher the amount of fat mass present the lower the vertical jump performance. Among the analyzes, the variables that most influence jump height, the thigh fold and the waist circumference are the most important variables, with a negative correlation and a significant correlation for each one. Conclusions: Results based, we can conclude that fat mass negatively affects the performance of the vertical jump. Also, the fat mass is burned more with the practice of resistance exercise rather than the intensity. The key variable is the physical activity type, producing improvements in fitness as well as jump ability.
