Fault-tolerant time-invariant feedback control

Abstract:

This paper discusses the problem of guaranteeing both a nominal performance and a degraded second-class control performance under actuators and/or sensors faults. LMI, BMI and other possible solutions are investigated in a time invariant feedback control framework. Also, the switching-on and shutting-down sequence of sensors and actuators in centralised control strategies may be critical to ensure continuous stability of the controlled plant. The advantage of measuring the actual input to the plant is also discussed. A bank angle control example illustrates the procedure. Copyright © 2005 IFAC.
