Feasibility analysis of smart manufacturing systems application in Ecuador

Abstract:

The aim of this research is: to analyze the innovation and development of smart manufacturing systems in Ecuador. For this, it was analyzed at the Latin American level, in countries such as Chile, Brazil and Argentina. In these countries there are a paradigm shift in public and private organizations in the generation of knowledge. On the other hand, Ecuador has taken its first steps in science, technology and innovation processes through various public policies with a high investment in education, but with a still low incidence in productivity. One of the advantages for this implementation is that most of the companies technological have internet (96%), but the biggest problem lies in the constant change and advance, associated with the high costs of acquisition and implementation of equipment and machines. In addition to this, the social and cultural environment of entrepreneurs is added due to the little or no habit of implementing technological changes in a routine process. It is expected that in the future this will change and there may be a feasibility of implementing smart manufacturing systems.
