Feeding Guinea Pigs growing-fattening grass-based tropical adapted to the Amazon region


Abstract:

The Guinea pig is an herbivorous animal, advantage forages, depending on the efficiency of the level and availability of nutrients, to meet your needs. Grasses and legumes are the main nutritional input in an exploitation of Guinea Pigs. Food consumption depends on the frequency of offering it; minimum must be two times a day, which can be an increase in the productive yield of the animal. Its capacity of ingestion in green fodder can be 30% of your body weight. The research was carried out in the Centro de Investigacion Postagrado y Conservación Amazonica, in the smaller species program of the Universidad Estatal Amazónica, where we evaluated four grasses adapted to the Amazon region: Axonopus scoparius (gramalote), Pennisetum sp (King grass), Echinochloa polystachya (grass German), Axonopus micay (grass micay), more the addition of balanced, used in feeding of Guinea Pigs in the phases of growing-fattening where used 80 Guinea weaned pigs of both sexes of 30 days of age with weight 0,400 kg distributed under a DCA averages. The results were submitted to analysis of variance and separation of means (Tukey a p<0,05). Being in phase growing - fattening to the Pennisetum purpureum provide better productive answers with weight end of 0,860 kg, increments of weight of 0,460 kg, feed conversion of 9,065, weight to the channel of 0,617 kg it is recommended for the ecosystem of the humid tropics (AmazoniaEcuadorian), feed guinea pigs at this stage with Pennisetum sp.
