Fifth-generation networks and vehicle-to-everything communications

Abstract:

The development of the fifth generation (5G) networks means an improved network offering optimised key performance indicators for new services. One of these services is aimed at the development of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Therefore, this paper offers an overview of technologies for vehicular communications through the 5G cellular network, use cases derived from these technologies and an analysis of their potential requirements. Thus, an application for vehicular communications is presented. After the study, it is concluded that the development of the new 5G networks is adapted to the requirements of the use cases for vehicular communications, aimed at reducing the number of accidents on the roads, decrease travel times and reduce the emission of pollutant gases into the environment.
