First record of mitu salvini in nangaritza watershed, cordillera del cóndor, southeast of Ecuador

Abstract:

The Salvin's Curassow (Mitu salvini), is a cracid that occurs, in Ecuador, in the Eastern forest lowlands. It is considered rare and currently faces strong pressure from hunting and habitat loss. We present the first photographic and video evidence of the species’ occurrence in the Nangaritza valley, cordillera del Condor, southeast Ecuador. This record extends its distribution 200 km southwards in Ecuador.
