Forage yield and nutritional value of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandú, in semiarid areas of the Ecuadorian coast

Abstract:

The objective of the research was to determine the yield of the Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandú and assess the nutritional quality through its bromatology. A randomized complete block design (RCBD) was applied, with factorial arrangement; factor A three doses of nitrogen (N100, N120, N140) and factor B, three planting distances (0.40 x 0.6 m, 0.5 x 0.7 m, 0.6 x 0.8 m) with 3 replications, a total of 27 experimental plots. The experiment was carried out 60 days after the equalization cut, the variables evaluated were fresh biomass, dry biomass and bromatology and their means compared with the Tukey test (≤ 0.05). The results show that at 60 days, the lowest nitrogen application reached 31.51% in dry matter, 12.25% in crude protein, 32.0% in fiber and 10.51% in ash.
