Formulation of N- and v-representable density functional theory. VIII. Relationship between the density-driven and the local-scaling versions

Abstract:

It is shown that Cioslowski's density-driven construction of one-particle orbitals corresponds to a finite basis representation of local-scaling transformations. Implications of this correspondence, with respect to the formulat ion and implementation of a variational principle for the density, are discussed. © 1991 American Institute of Physics.
