3D Modelling of Freedom Summit for Virtual Environments
Abstract:
The conservation of the historical heritage of the city requires, among other things, updated information that contributes to the documentation and protection of the same and to decisions of urban transformations, this need and the accelerated technological development, has motivated the creation of specific software tools to collect geographical, topographic and/or archaeological information. The modelling of a heritage asset by its structural or access characteristics is a task of great complexity and for these models to approach, in the most precise way possible, to reality, three-dimensional representations are used. According to the objective of the three-dimensional model that is required to be obtained, different techniques and / or programs are used. This paper attempts to present the result obtained from the use of the aforementioned techniques and programs to achieve an approximation to the reality of a heritage asset such as the monument of the top of freedom of the City of Quito. The modelling process has considered the architectural conditions of the monument, as well as the characteristics of the software tools that allow the automation of the process, speed, ease of use to achieve greater accuracy of the model to achieve the realism of the result and the possibility of taking advantage of that model to obtain the best approximation to the reality of the patrimonial asset. The objective of this project and its degree of demand have been decisive in choosing the most appropriate virtual construction method to model the monument of the top of Liberty, in the city of Quito.
