Frecuencia de exodoncias quirúrgicas de terceros molares en pacientes atendidos en la Clínica de la Facultad de Odontología.
Abstract:
The surgical extraction of the third molar is the most common surgical intervention of the oral cavity. Surgical extraction is called the procedure by which includes the phases of asepsis, anesthesia, incision, lifting the flap, ostectomy, odontosection, avulsion, bone regularization and suture. Considering the location of the third molar in the posterior sector of the mouth and according to its depth in the bone, the appropriate surgical treatment will be indicated. The purpose of this study is to categorize the third molars by variables so as to determine the prevalence of position of them in the surgical extractions performed in some patients at the dentistry faculty of the University of Guayaquil during the October 2017 until August 2018. Through this study of 88 medical records of the patients who attended to the clinics of the faculty in that period, resulted in the most frequent position being the mesio-angular with a percentage of 37.5%, the most frequent class is the I with 76.13% and the the most frequent type is B with 44.31%. In conclusion, class II is the most frequent and when the space is smaller for the eruption third molars are more likely to present postoperative complications.
