Frecuencia de la hipertensión arterial en adulto mayores que acuden al Centro de Salud Alfredo Baquerizo Moreno del Cantón Jujan- Guayas.
Abstract:
Arterial hypertension is one of the main cardiovascular risk factors, and the presence of other associated or concomitant diseases largely determines the patient's prognosis. Objective: To determine the frequency of arterial hypertension in older adults who attend the Alfredo Baquerizo Moreno Health Center of the Jujan-Guayas Canton. Methodology: Level: Descriptive. Method: Quantitative. Design: Retrospective cross-sectional. Population: 110 older adults. Technique: Indirect observation. Instrument: Observation sheet. Results: Sociodemographic characteristics gender 68% were women and 32% men, aged between 65 to 70 years 59%, of mestizo ethnicity 79%, with an educational level 81% secondary education, with an economic level of 95% are from the middle class. The clinical manifestations were headache in 77%, dyspnea in 69%, fatigue in 51%, tinnitus in 27%, and edema of the lower extremities in 38%. Among the concomitant diseases associated with arterial hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus represented 38% of older adults, followed by the presentation of hypertensive crisis 23%, history of Covid2019 with 18% and obesity 14%. Conclusion: The frequency of arterial hypertension in older adults was presented with a higher percentage at grade II.
