Frecuencia de los genotipos 16 y 18 del virus del papiloma humano en pacientes que acudieron al Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso 2019
Abstract:
Background: The Human Papillomavirus causes one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. The virus affects the male and female genital tract including the perianal areas, and can cause malignant or benign lesions. HPV is classified into high-risk and low-risk genotypes based on its malignant potential. HPV genotypes 16 and 18 are considered carcinogenic, responsible for 70% of cervical, penile and anal cancers. Objective: To determine the frequency of genotypes 16 and 18 of the Human Papilloma virus in patients who attended the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso 2019. Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out, the data were collected through the information system of the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in 2019, once the information was obtained from the database, the analysis of the variables was carried out qualitative through simple tables, crossed and statistical graphs. The information obtained was analyzed through the statistical programs SPSS Statistics and Microsoft Excel, considering the study variables: age, place of residence, marital status, genotype 16 and genotype 18. Results: A total of 544 patients were registered where the frequency of genotypes 16 and 18 during the 2019 period was 31.7%, of which 25.5% corresponds to genotype 16, 3.3% to genotype 18 and 2.9 presented a coinfection. The largest number of cases detected was between the ages of 25 to 59 years with a percentage of 74.3% with a predominance in the urban area and occurring mainly in married women with 85.1%.
