Frecuencia y uso de la medicina ancestral en el tratamiento de la hipertensión arterial crónica. cuenca - 2017.
Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Since ancient times, ancestral medicine has been an important part of our life and culture, especially for health since, historically, our ancestors used ancestral medicine to maintain health, prevent and treat diseases, over time and at scientific and technological progress of modern medicine little by little this medicine has been moving away from its origins. The World Health Organization has stated that it supports the use of ancestral medicine as it has proved its usefulness to the patient. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: to determine the frequency and use of ancestral medicine in the treatment of chronic hypertension, in the parish of Victoria del Portete. Cuenca - 2017. METHODOLOGY: a quantitative-descriptive, cross-sectional study with a finite universe of 150 chronic hypertensive patients registered in the health sub-center of the Victoria Del Portete parish. The technique that was used to collect the data was the filling of surveys. The instrument used was: the "National Survey of Epidemiology Psychiatry (ENEP)" (2). which evaluates the use of ancestral medicine and to determine its frequency. The Survey of a study called "Frequency of Use of Alternative Therapies in Hypertensive Patients" (3). The data tabulation was with the SPSS program 22 and the results are represented through frequency tables and percentages. RESULTS: the average age was 65 years with 63.3% of the population studied, 73.3% of women were women, 57% were married, 28% had a disease period of 6 months. 1 year, the most used alternative therapy is phytotherapy with 53% and the plants most used were melissa and parsley with 61.3%. Conclusions: the population studied is closely related to ancestral medicine, also using it as an adjuvant in pharmacological treatment.
