Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Radar Evaluation for Internet of Things Applications

Abstract:

Sensing physical variables such as temperature, speed and distance, nowadays is the most common due to the increase in Internet of Things (IoT) applications; within this, short-range radars have played a leading role in vehicle applications, people detection, gesture detection, among others. In this article it is proposed to evaluate the Xensiv 24GHz radar, with the intention of determining its capabilities for IoT applications; Three test targets were proposed: a reflective sphere, a corner reflector and human target, with single target and multi target detection, presenting a mean error in length of 5%, in a maximum range of 15 meters.
