Fully working 1gbit/s ethernet transmission system: Final results from the pof-plus eu project

Abstract:

We present the final results from the POF-PLUS EU Project, demonstrating the transmission of a Gigabit Ethernet compliant stream over 50m of 1mm PMMA SI-POF with consistent system margin, using commercial RC-LED. The results were made possible by a careful optimization of the physical layer architecture. We completed our system with a clock-recovery mechanism, which enables our prototype to become as stand-alone.
