Anxiety levels during treatment of psychotropic substance users
Abstract:
Introduction: Addiction is a multifactorial disease that affects the individual in a physical, mental and social way. For this reason, the patient must be treated in a multidisciplinary ap-proach, since it can cause anxiety problems, generating an emotion that places the subject on alert and activates him/her on a cognitive, physiological and behavioral level, before the possibility that in a certain situation it leads to a negative or undesired result. Materials and methods: The present research was based on a quantitative approach of descriptive type, to identify the factors associated to anxiety in drug-dependent patients of the therapeutic community Kairos, in which the heteroaplied Hamilton scale was used to identify the levels of anxiety during the treatment of psychotropic substances users of this Rehabilitation Center. Results: There is a relationship between suicidal ideation, anxiety and depression, since 67% of patients with suicidal ideation have depression vs. 50% of those with no ideation, in both cases the totality present anxiety. Conclusions: our results can be used by the professionals of this or another therapeutic community when taking action and counteracting their weaknesses, strengthening the psycho-logical and social impact on users and families, guaranteeing an adequate diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for the patients benefit.
