3D Virtual System of a Liquid Filling and Packaging Process, Using the Hardware in the Loop Technique


Abstract:

This article presents a virtual automation system for the filling and packaging of liquids developed in the Unity3D graphics engine, complemented with the Hardware In The Loop simulation technique to integrate the sig-nals from simulated sensors and actuators with the use of the Arduino board and the S7-1200 programmable logic controller. The virtual system provides a three-dimensional environment with a high level of detail, the industrial instrumentation has the appearance and functionality similar to real instruments. In order to allow users to become familiar with the industrial elements of the process and complement learning in the field of automation in an interactive way.
